A lens with words and hands.

Hi,

I’m Kan, a craftsman living in a small village of Kochi, Japan.

with eyes closed is an ongoing project that gathers quiet acts of attention, both found and made.

Some works are poems and images, created in response to fleeting moments I encounter.
They are observations I simply notice and try to hold.

Other works belong to a series I call Human.
These are small, temporary gestures made by subtly rearranging elements in nature.

Whether observed or shaped, all of these pieces begin with the same impulse:
to pay close attention to what might be missed.

To invite a quiet kind of seeing,
the kind that happens best with eyes closed.

This is the parallel rhythm of my life,
a way of seeing and moving through the world.

A little more about me
