Portrait 山本堪（やまもとかん）
1981年高知県生まれ。ベルリン芸術大学で美術の勉強をしていましたが2011年夏、ドイツ独自の芸術学位「マイスターシューラー」の称号を獲得し地元高知に戻って来ました。将来的には自分で作家としてやって行くと言うよりは地域間異文化交流と教育を通して何とか地域社会（特に地元高知の）からの社会変革に貢献していきたいと思っています。その一環としてインディペンデント・メディアや市民活動に非常に興味があり、社会を「創る」という意味では、自らの作家活動よりも可能性を感じています。中央発信では無い、地域同士の直接のやり取りは日本のこれからにとって特に欠かす事の出来ないものだと思います。脱原発ポスター展デザイナー兼サイト管理人。メールはこちら、ツイッターはこちらから。以前は東京やスイスでグラフィック・デザイナーとして働いていました。現在は「土佐山アカデミー」のチームスタッフです。

Kan Yamamoto
born in 1981, Kochi, Japan. lives in Kochi, Japan.

In this era, in which everybody can easily record and produce images, our society overflows with images. Image recording medium including photography, film and video consolidates its position strongly as a “truth recording” medium, although instability and distortion of the medium should be always questioned. We perceive the world unconsciously as a collective of images and this is how the medium functions as foundation of our common world-view which is habitually termed “reality”.

Cynical negation of the medium is not what I intend, but revealing natural character of the medium which conceals inevitable manipulation and to take our spontaneous imagination and autonomous thoughts back.

Renunciation of vanity and liberation of art from commodity fetishism.
