The root word “image” need not be used only to mean representation (in the sense of one thing referring to something other than itself).
To re-present can be defined as the shift in referential frames of the viewer from the space of events to the space of statements or vice versa.
Imaginning (as opposed to imaging) is not a pictorial preoccupation. Imagination is a projection, the exteriorizing of the ideas about the nature of things seen. It reproduces that which is initially without product.

With the death of Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared the country “liberated” from LTTE after a 26-year war.
One day after the president’s declaration of triumph, Selvarasa Pathmanathan, the Tigers’ chief of international relations, announced that the rebels were laying down their weapons. “We have decided to silence our guns. Our only regrets are for the lives lost and that we could not hold out for longer.” said Pathmanathan.
According to Amnesty International, there are still more than 200,000 displaced people, including approximately 80,000 children, who need relief but also protection from abuses in the country.
Civil war may be over now, but for sri lankan civilian their struggle for security, freedom and democracy is just began. Their nationalistic president and the government must not disregard humanrights any more to avoid further tragedy.

戦闘は終わったかも知れませんが、スリランカの一般市民達にとっては安全、自由そして民主主義を得る為の戦いは始まったばかりです。彼らの国家主義的な大統領とその政府は更なる惨劇をさける為にもこれ以上人権を無視してはなりません。救援物資の輸送に加えて日本が出来る事は何でしょうか。

The British Army is nearing full strength for the first time in a generation as the recession is prompting thousands of young people to sign up.
Recruitment rose by 14 per cent in the six months to March 31 compared with a year earlier. It is expected to reach full strength in 2011 after years in which it struggled to win recruits.
There are also fewer people leaving. The number who quit the Armed Forces in 2008 dropped by 8.3 per cent year on year as fear of competing in a shrinking civilian jobs market persuaded more to stay on.
An overhaul of recruiting techniques, including internet and television campaigns, and a softening of public opinion towards the Armed Forces after the unpopular war in Iraq are also helping to boost numbers.

Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman shocked the audience of LA Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday when he stopped mid-show saying that he would no longer perform in a country whose military wants to take over the world.
According to the report on the Los Angeles Times website, Zimerman was about to play the final piece of the evening – Polish composer Karol Szymanowski’s ‘Variations on a Polish Folk Theme’ – when he suddenly stopped playing and came out with a politicized speech accusing the US of attempting to press the rest of the world with their military policy.
“Get your hands off my country,” he said, referring to the US plans to place an ABM shield in Poland.
Some might criticize him for his boycott and label his act as an inappropriateness. I think, however, if a musician or an artist has political statement, there is hardly more appropriate occasion than on a stage to tell his message and he has a right to do so. In this case, his action has much stronger influence than any other because of its “inappropriateness”. After all most of people never want to think about politics at a classic consert.
